Wedding Photography F.A.Q.

Common questions I get from couples, and some I wish they'd ask!

Why pick Sam at Tower Photography?

My most passionate suggestion for couples is that they should find a photographer with whom they like interacting. The photos matter, but if you don’t get on with them, then that discomfort will live in your memories and your photos forever.

As for choosing me, or rather us choosing each other, I won’t be the photographer for every couple, and every couple isn’t right for me. I use our meeting before booking to help make the right choice, just as you do. There are amazing weddings I’ll never be the right fit for, but I know my people, and if you think you might be my people, you should hit me up.

You're personality is a lot, can you tone it down?

Okay, no one has ever asked me this, but I do want couples to know that as big as my personality might be, I am capable of matching the vibe.

What is your wedding photography style?

My style blends documentary-style wedding photos, editorial and fine art wedding photos, and traditional photos. For more detail on this, check out my short blog post here.

Have you shot a gay/lesbian/trans/queer wedding?

I have. I’m queer. And I would love to celebrate you and your partner.

How many Weddings have you shot?

As of January 2023, I have had the honour of shooting 40 weddings varying in size from just the couple to 200 guests. I’ll be wrapping up my second year in business soon, and I’m still growing and changing as a photographer and business owner. I see each wedding as a chance to up my game. Nothing is rote, nothing is trivial.

Have you shot a wedding at our venue?

Maybe! But let me (and loads of other photographers) tell you why that may not matter. If I’ve shot at a venue before, while I will be familiar and comfortable with the lighting and location, it’s always a bit easier to fall back on what I did before.

I know some amazing photographers who work in the same venues over and over. Subsequently, couples get a gallery that is exactly like the galleries they’ve seen. Which is awesome. My goal, however, is to deliver a gallery that is unique to you, and that is sometimes easier in a venue I’ve never shot in before.

That doesn’t mean I won’t do research! After receiving an inquiry, I check out the venue online and take a look at what other photographers have done. After booking, I may take an opportunity to visit the venue and reach out to colleagues whose skills and expertise I admire to get a good idea of what photographing in that space is like.

How far are you willing to travel?

I love traveling! There’s no limit to how far I’ll go.

If you’re a couple in the UK getting married in the US, there is a massive benefit in booking with me. I’m a citizen and won’t require a work visa to shoot there. There is no chance I’ll get turned away at the border. I have friends and family in 14 states, so if your wedding is conveniently placed, then I’ve got a familiar place to rest my head.

Do you do Pre-wedding shoots or Engagement shoots?

I do! I don’t offer them included with your wedding package, but there is a discount if you’d like to add it on.

It’s an excellent opportunity to get to know me before your big day and to really settle into what our dynamic would feel like.

Can I see a full wedding gallery?

Absolutely. You simply need to reach out and ask!

How many Black and White photos will we get?

I use my artistic eye to choose which photos to edit in black and white. You can always reach out to me if you’d like to see a photo from your gallery in black and white or in colour instead.
